Google's Self-Driving Car
Since November of 2013 I have had the fortune of working on this life-changing project. I say life-changing because we are not just trying to create another technology that is cool and allows Americans to be even lazier.
First, we are trying to save lives. Road traffic crashes rank as the 9th leading cause of death accounting for on average 3,287 deaths a day.
Second, we are trying to give people time back - time to be with your family, time to relax & rest, time to read and learn. The average American commute is 25.4 minutes, that's a 150+ hours a year spent in the car driving to work.
I am a Mechanical Engineer here at Google working on the Self-Driving System and in Vehicle Engineering for both of these above Google Vehicles. I look forward to the impact this project will someday make and am proud to be a part of it.
